Photography has always been my passion.

From my earliest memories, I marveled at family photos of people and places with the feeling that the subjects came alive, and seeing myself in the place or with the people in the photo. During family trips when I was very young, I enjoyed incredible experiences away from home and the exploration of many new places. It didn’t take long to connect my love for travel exploration with the desire to share that experience in pictures with others so it came alive for them as well. With the gift of my first Kodak Instamatic 100 camera from my parents, I had the ability to share my stories of exploration with others. After each trip, the excitement of taking the film cartridge to be developed and anticipation of the results was almost too overwhelming to bear. It was like time stood still. Upon looking at the developed images, the memories came rushing back and I looked forward to having family and friends who could not share in the journey itself to experience it through my photographs.

After college, I started traveling all over the world. The natural alignment in storytelling through photographs evolved into a passion for travel photography. Inspired by the intrinsic connection between humanity and our impact on the planet, my approach to capturing the essence of a place goes beyond iconic landmarks to connecting my viewers to the sense of place of the locale: its natural environment, living creatures, people, architecture, and their culture. I love to focus on exploring the unique details of the journey and the places we experience, recognizing the rich history of the human experience as well as the incredible natural beauty of our home, planet Earth.

When I’m not traveling, I am rediscovering my home base of Portland, Oregon with my family, and the incredible surroundings of the Pacific Northwest to share in imagery with all of you who want to travel here to explore.
